Warm up exercises.

By Morten Gjermundsen.(trollstjerne@yahoo.no)

These exercises should help you warm up your fingers. All exercises should be played slow. Use them before you start practicing songs, solos or other stuff. They can allso be useīd before a gig or whatever.By playing some of these exercises everytime you pick up your guitar you can avoid serious damage.and you donīt want to hurt yourself do you?I have several times started my "speed practicing" by going right on 160 bmp..and iīll tell you one thing i wonīt do it again.(i hope not)Because A : My fingers were hurting. B : I played alot of mistakes. C : and...um?You donīt need any more reasons do you?So take it slow. These exercises may seem like theyīre only for your fret hand, but they arenīt.On all exercises you should play using down and up strokes.Hold your pick close to the strings when your playing to avoid extra movement.

Practice these exercises without any effects use clean sound.

I will begin with some chromatic variations.Because they arenīt so
hard to play on the guitar, they are great as warm upīs.Start slow.

You donīt have to use these exercises if you donīt want to.Warming up your finger
with some scales, riffs, licks or anything would be fine too.No matter what you do,
donīt do it to long they are for warming up your hands only.Sure you could use them
in your songs but that wouldnīt sound to good, now would it ?If not your bands name
is "the exercises" that is.For now go back to guitarpages and check out the rest.
